Your documents
The included English OCR workflow processes input documents on your PC. It does not require you to upload those documents to an online OCR service. You choose where exported DOCX and TXT files are saved.
Internet access
Downloading Setup makes an ordinary request to the hosting server. A required Microsoft runtime or an optional recognition component may need a separate download. Those downloads do not mean your document is uploaded for recognition.
Website requests
The hosting server may keep access logs for page and download requests. Existing support forms and article pages retain their own processing and integrations. Do not send confidential documents through a support form unless you intend to share them with support.
Optional software invitation
Setup may present an optional RelevantKnowledge research invitation. RelevantKnowledge is Comscore’s TMRG research software and is separate from the OCR application. Its invitation explains collection of browsing and application activity and offers its own choices and privacy policy.
You can decline the invitation and still install and use Free OCR to Word. Read the official invitation before deciding whether to participate.
